Original U.S. American Revolutionary War Era Period U.S.-Made British Brown Bess Style Socket Bayonet - Circa 1770s - From Collection of American Edged Weapon Museum Manufacture Type_New Made Items The sweeping "scimitar" style bladeOriginal Item. Only One Available. This is a fine pitted example of a crude American made socket bayonet in the Brown Bess style, dating to the 1770s. There are no existing markings and the construction is rather crude, perfect for this period and for early American manufacture. It was certainly American made for a Brown Bess musket, which they used extensively during the war. This example came to us from the Larry Thomas American Edged Weapon Museum
